The article establishes that under current conditions the industrial manufacturers are facing a demand of active fight for the consumer, applying new forms of organization of production and using more and more resources. This results in the potential threat of exhaustion, depletion of natural resources and the appearance of many risks that have an extremely strong impact on the sustainable development of the enterprise. The fact that effective work and interaction of all production potential elements provide the implementation of strategic and current goals of production and those that contribute to the sustainable development of the enterprise has been substantiated. A number of measures to ensure the production potential development of an industrial enterprise were suggested. A model of its production potential aimed at the sustainable development was built.
