Abstract:

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the socio-economic development of eight regions in Western Ukraine: Volyn, Zakarpattya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnitsky and Chernivtsi. The research is based on the following key indicators of the socio-economic development of the region analysis: average annual population, number of employed population, population monetary income, consumer prices, industrial production, agriculture, capital investment, foreign direct investment, foreign trade in goods. Tendency of changes in the average monthly wages by regions in 2013-2017 is investigated. Common features of the regions in Western Ukraine by means of perspective and problem analysis of the socio-economic development indicators are identified according to the classification, which aims to determine the types of regions that can be used to provide targeted funding of State regional aid. It is emphasized that state regional aid is one of those effective means that really contribute to the development of the region. This made it possible to outline the priorities of internationalization of enterprises operating in its territory. One of the key problems in the region is population migration, the main reason for which is that the researched part of the country is characterized by the underdeveloped economy, lack of high-tech industrial production and lack of subsidies. The analysis of this phenomena statistical data is provided. To overcome the above stated problems, it is necessary to implement a number of measures that will contribute to the accelerated development of the region's economy. In each region, long- and short-term strategies for socio-economic development of the region have been developed, so the urgent issue is their implementation and proper adjustment based on the performance analysis.

Based on the carried out analysis, the main priorities of the Western region of Ukraine development are determined.
